Operant Conditioning theory: B.F.Skinner is the pioneer for operant conditioning theory. According to this theory, we can direct people's behavior in desired direction by giving them rewards and punishments. Positive reinforcements and Negative reinforcement called rewards. Positive punishment and negative punishment called punishments.

What is meant by a reinforcement?

A stimulus which encourages a person to perform a specific behavior again and again called reinforcement. It can also be called as reward. It can be divided into positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement.

How can a reinforcement be either positive or negative?

If we give a wanted stimulus to a person for showing particular behavior, that stimulus called positive reinforcement. We are doing favor to the person by adding stimulus so that it is called positive reinforcement.

If we remove an unwanted stimulus from a person for showing particular behavior that is called negative reinforcement. We are doing favor to the person by removing unwanted stimulus so that it is called negative reinforcement.
