Starbucks Corporation is the largest coffeehouse company in the word. For more than a decade, the company has partnered with conservation international to promote coffee farming methods that protect biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and reduce harm form pesticides and fertilizers. The partners have worked with local farmers to develop 2016coffee varieties that thrive in the shade of native trees, conserving habitat and sequestering carbon. The company has also worked with CI to develop a set of purchasing guidelines based on sustainability and has committed to paying a premium price to suppliers who meet that standards. There are three stages of corporate environmental responsibility. The first stage is pollution prevention; the second stage is product stewardship; the third stage is clean technology. In this case, Starbucks are in the second stage. They focus on their produce process and make sure they have environmental impacts.
