Please read the following scenario and then refer to the materials
of the courseto answer the questions
The scenario:
Dr. Latif is a new nephrologist employee working in the kidney
dialysis unit at one of the Palestinian hospitals, and he deals
with chronic patients who are visiting the unit "2 or 3" times
weekly, so the staff is familiar with the patients and they
formulated very close interaction and relationship.
He started to feel overinvolved with one of the patients who has
many personal and family conflicts and she used to share it with
Dr.Latif as he was very close to her, even they were friends on
social media and he consider her to be a close friend, he felt
empathetic with her, with time he started to be uncomfortable as
the relationship started to cross the professional standers and he
became emotional over-involvement.
Answer the following questions
1-Please, differentiate between the levels of patient-"Health care
provider" like Doctor, Nurse…etc. involvement?
2-What communication skills should Dr. Latif follow to assure the
professional relationship. And why?
3-Why do you think the patient-Doctor/Nurse relationship could
become intimate ??reflect from the case
4- Please summarize in two lines how could the nurse be empathic
with the patients but keep professional standers?

Ans-1) For Patient-patient should be free with doctor regarding to his problem only.do not get more personal with doctor.this can be dangerous for both.patient should not get more personal with doctor.they should Maintain their relation with doctor only in professional level.
For doctor-doctor should not personal attachment with patients.should doesn't ask personal question.should avoid the contact during tratement period.doest connect with patiente emotionally.
Patient-doctor should Maintain this level.which helps Patient from recover with professional guidelines.
Ans-2)good communication skills are required for the doctor which trust worthy on patient relationship.but this should be Maintain at certain level.
In this case Dr.latif should be personal with patients.effective communication are positively influence the patient health care.this lead to greater Patient understanding.in this case dr.latif should Maintain the professional level with Patient.avoid the personal contact.

Ans-3)in this case,Dr.latif is now become a in close relationship with the Patient having suffering from chronic renal failure.in this case he cross his boundaries with doctor and Patient reletionship.
Now Dr.latif are become close and emphethetic with her.they have feel emotional.they involved with the Patient emotionally.Professional objectivity may be compromised when an immediate family member or the Dr.latif is the patient; the physician's personal feelings may unduly influence his professional medical judgment, thereby interfering with the care being delivered.
Ans-4)nurses client relationship is depends on power,trust, respect, professional empathy and the intimate.
Nurses shows the empathy by Understanding, validating, confirming the health care experience to the patient.nurses Maintain appropriate emotional Distence from the patient.its shows the objectivity and professional response.
Professional Intimacy:When nurses provide intimate care activities to their patients, such as bathing, it creates professional closeness. Professional intimacycan also involve being privy to psychological,spiritual and social elements that areidentified in patients' plans of care.
