How to obtain and prepare animal and plant cells for observation under the microscope?

Solutions

Expert Solution

For animal cell

Cheek cell is tge best animal cell we could get easily and can observe clearly

Methodology

1.take ca clean cotton swab or toothpick and gently scrape the inner cheek.

2.smear the cells obtained into a glass slide.

3. Add a drop of methylene blue solution and place a cover slip using needle or brush by avoiding airbubbles.

4. Remove excess stain with a tissue.

5. Place the slide on microscope and observe under low magnification. Then change it to higher magnification after finding the best cell.

For plant cell

The best plant cell to be observed is onion cells.

Methodology

1. To get Onion cell just peel off the inner membrane of onion bulb using tweezers.

2.place the membrane to the middle of glass slide after placing a drop of water. This will help to flatten the membrane.

3. Add a drop of methylene blue solution and place a cover slip using needle or brush by avoiding airbubbles.

4. Remove excess stain and water with a tissue paper .

5. Observe the slide under low magnification . Then change it to higher magnification after finding the best cell.

Part A - Comparing plant cells and animal cells Plant cells and animal cells share many of the same structures, but each type of cell also has unique structures. In this activity, you will indicate which cell structures are found only in plant cells, only in animal cells, or in both plant and animal cells. Drag each cell structure to the appropriate bin. If a structure is found in both plant cells and animal cells, drag it to the "both"...

Plant cells are different from animal cells in several ways. All plant cells have a cell wall during their entire existence. The cell wall has many different functions in different cell types. Compare and contrast between the two types of plant cell walls as to their chemical make up, shape, when they are formed, and morphological properties. Include all chemical components in the cell wall we discussed during lecture. Draw two figures showing how each of these cell walls are...
