Explain the 6 phases of kicking a soccer ball:
1. Approach Angle
2. Plant foot forces
3. Swing Limb loading
4. Hip Flexion
5. foot to ball contact
6. Follow through
Identify the phases of motion.
Key factors of what happens biomechanically in each phase.
- key things that should happen
-the body movement in each phase.
Why is it important to do the six phases kicking the soccer ball. (Power, prevent injuries, more strength)
Ans.
Six distinct stages are involved in the kick: the approach angle, the plant foot force, the swing limb loading, the swinging phase, ball contact, and the follow through. The first is the “approach angle” when a kicker runs up to the ball.
1.They found an approach angle of 30° to 45° to be optimal, with maximum velocity of the shank achieved with an approach angle of 30° and the maximum ball speed achieved with an approach of 45°.
2.part of your foot should make contact with the ball depends on the type of kick. For instance, kick the ball with the inside of your foot to kick a pass on the ground and the sole of your foot to use a straight kick. Work on kicking the right part of the ball with the right part of your foot.
3.
Swing Limb Loading, Hip Flexion & Knee Extension
The hip flexors initiate the next phase of the kick, thrusting forwards allowing the kicking leg to begin its downward momentum (Figure 4). The energy stored, is transferred downwards as the leg straightens, allowing for greater force as the foot moves towards the ball.
4.the knee, or leg, flexed in this position prior to kicking the ball, the force acting at the hip joint is lessened. This will make kicking with the thigh and leg easier. ... As the kicking motion continues, the hip flexors continue to pull the thigh forward
5.Use the inside of the foot – that's the area from the base of the big toe to the central area of the heel, under the ankle bone. Kick foot at right angles to the ball. Belly button should be facing the player receiving the pass. Non-kicking foot alongside the ball.
6.If you don't follow through, you are essentially chipping rather than kicking the ball. To follow through, continue your kick after you have made contact with the ball. Follow through towards your target to improve accuracy. If you want the ball to go higher, your leg should go high after you kick the ball.
