Evaluation is a area close to but far more than distuingishable from traditional research. It uses the same methodologies in traditional research.Evaluation is a systematic acquisition and assesment of information to provide useful feedback about some subject. The goal of evaluation is to provide a feedback to a variety of audiences. There are two types of evaluation, formulative and summative evaluation.Formative evaluation monitors the program or technology delivery, determine whether evaluation is feasible, and who needs the program.Summative evaluation is whether the outcome can cause effects to the outcome.A problem analysis is used to find the cause of positive or negative deviation. It is used to process and gather information needed to find and cause of the problem. In a criminal justice setting evaluation can be done with developing and working with program models, measuring activites and outcomes, gather data for a specific program and identify process and proceedures to carry out a specific program. For example understanding the behaviour of delinquents and assistance of the bureau of justice assistance.
