Compare and contrast the evaluation and selection of an external Request for Proposal (RFP) to an internal project. Should the processes be the same or different? Why or Why not?
In case of external request for proposal a company makes a public announcement requesting proposals for a specific project. This can be issued through newspapers, individual letters or trade journals. Those firms who are interested I the project would then discuss their approach to the project and their qualifications in the prosposal.the recipient then evaluate them and then select the best candidate to start working on the contract. The example may include an independent consultant prosing to do a project for another organization. In case of internal proposals, the proposal may be for someone within your organization. This does not contain as much information as in case of external request for proposal such as qualification. Evaluation of internal proposal may not indulge in detail cost analysis. In case of external request for proposal some kind of a performance guarantee is also taken from the vendor. the process of more formal and informal proposal selection and evaluation should always be different as more detailed scrutiny of information and knowledge about the previously unknown vendor is required in case of external request for proposal
