It is important for all nurses to become familiar with various strategies to prevent medication errors. here some strategies :
1. ensure the five rights of medication administration
2.follow paper medication procedures, double check or even triple check procedures.
3. the nurses access to patients' information and the use of bar coding technology
4.consider using a name alert, and place a zero in front of the decimal point.

2B.RIGHTS OF MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION:
there are eight rights are available:
1. right patient: check the name on the order and the patient.
2.right medication: check the medication lable and check the order.
3.right dose: confirm the dose using a current drug reference
4.right route: confirm the patient can take or receive the medication by the ordered route.
5. right time: check the frequency of the ordered medication.
6.right documentaion: document administration after giving the ordered medication
7.right reason: confirm the rational for the ordered medication.
8. right response: be sure to document your monitoring of the patient.
