What environmental issues do you view as significant for this generation? What steps need to occur to support a sustainable environment?

Answer- Environment is consists of the surroundings we live in, it includes the air we breathe, the land we live on, the water and resources we use etc. From the past decades the environment has be degrading or getting damaged by the society and this has created a great problem for the world. Following are some of the issues we have been experiencing for the environment-

• Due to setting up of manufacturing units in many areas the pollution level has risen and since these units dispose off their waste in the water resources thus, the water which could be used for cleaning or drinking has been polluted and more waste has been generated. Due to this the production of waste has been increased and this has led to more damage to the environment as resources are been used at a pace which is greater than the pace at which they are getting replenished.

• Since people have been expanding their manufacturing units and and the real estate projects thus, they have been cutting down trees which has led to deforestation and affected the natural habitat badly. Due to massive deforestation the animals have been affected and shifted to different areas and also this has led to destruction of many natural resources.

• Apart from the above discussed matter the resoirces for the manufacturing or production are being used at a very high rate and thus it will be replenished after a very long time and at a very slow rate than the rate at which it is being used.

• Due to factors such as overpopullation people have started expanding their homes and this has led to wasteful utilisation of the land. Many natural resources are used up in building and rebuilding thenhouses and also the animal habitat has been affected. Due to overpopulation and faster transportaion, people have started using and buying more vehicles and this has led tonpollution of air in the cities due to emission of carbon di oxide. This problem has led to many health damages and affected the elderly

Sustainable development refers to using of natural resources at such pace that the durure generations will also be able to ise the natural natural resources. In other words it means to use tye resources at such a rate that the upcoming generations will not be affected and they can also get to use the same resources. Following steps can be followed to ensure sustainable development-

• People should be allowed some limits in use of resources so that it can used mainly for the needful purpose and not for satisfying of wants. It will also help in saving up the wasteful use of resources.

• For satisfying the food needs of people there should be proper agricultural system to wnsure that their is some level of food security present in the nation.

• There should be equal distribution of resources ao that they are utilised by just one for their own self goals rather than fulfiling social goals.

• Their should be proper control over resource utilisation so that if any mismanagement or wastefulness is seen then it can be corrected on timely basis.
