Solutions

Expert Solution

Value-Based Purchasing

Value-Based Purchasing is a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) enterprise, that remunerates acute-care hospitals with incentive amounts for the quality care rendered to Medicare recipients.

Total Performance Score

The Total Performance Score for all hospitals is grounded on hospital doing scores in all 4 measurement domains. Every domain adds 25 % to the absolute score. The domains are

  • Clinical Outcomes
  • Safety
  • Person and Community Engagement
  • Efficiency and Cost Reduction

HCAHPS

HCAHPS is a review tool and data collection methodology for estimating clients' attitudes toward their hospital encounter.

RELATIONSHIP

VBP Program is financed by decreasing attending hospitals' wages by an expected 2%. The gross total measure of that discount is then re-allocated to hospitals according to the Total Performance Scores that they deserve for the year based on their achievement on quality and supply value criteria. Through HCAHPS patient's views are collected.
