Which of the following is a challenge in the implementation of electronic health records?

A. lack of standardization

B. employee resistance

C. multiple end-user needs

D. all of the above

Solutions

Expert Solution

Correct option is D . ALL OF ABOVE

A) lack of standardisation : as we know EHR implementation is expensive affair.the selection , implementation and optimization of EHR will take away the Lions share of the planned capital budget investment. The cost of purchasing and installing the EHR is system is 15000-70000 dollar per provider. So standardisation can't be met by all health facilities .

B) employees resistance: not all the staff members would be open to the idea of technological implementation in are establishment.they may show reluctance to give up documentation process. In some cases staff members lack awareness of current technological advancements and comprehensive benefits of it.

C) end consumer: the end user typically do not possess the technical understanding or skill of product designer, a fact easily overlooked or forgotten by designer. So if there is multiple end user there risk of errors, poor version and change control, poor documentation and poor security, lack of audit trial anf risk of unknown..
