Abstract

Let us try to understand the importance of Qmont mining history and its impact on US Economy as a whole

As a major metals producer based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Qmont Mining has successfully grown over the years resulting in extensive operations across northern Canada.

A key problem Qmont Mining is facing is the need to improve the overall way the company handles supply for remote locations.

Below are the recommendations from Qmont Mining Case Study

1.Quality

Quality should aim to acquire high quality Parts for maintenance and repair to reduce the need to order supplies.

It should always be a top priority to decrease the amount of repair parts needed and cost associated with parts frequently needing repair.

2.Quantity

The company should aim to focus adding value to supply orders. this in involves scheduling a delivery with the goal of having the supplies value amounting to a greater value than that of Airfreight Cost.

3.Pricing

the company should practice strategic sourcing to develop long term supplier relations  and to create a valuable pricing agreement.

The goal should be to acquire valid information sources in regards to pricies. Whenver possilbe without sacrificing quality the company should aim to secure lower prices for supplies

4.Delivery

The goal should be to find a valuable balance between the need to have parts delivered as quickly as possible as when machine parts break down or require maintenance and other non immediate MRO Supplies.

5. service

The company should aim to focus on streamling and organizing services. The goal is to find a supplier that provides excellent services that is timely and with high quality. Excellent communication and accurate Record Keeping are the key in the service requirements.

Summary

In order to make the process of delivering goods as fast as possible, a proper way of communication has to be established. It is vital that only one way has to be presented, to avoid any miscommunication.

Some of equipment for remote sites can be produced within the company while some of them can be provided by other suppliers. It is essential to determine what products can be furnished by Qmont and what shall be outsourced.

The most logical step of centralization of supplying chain is to decrease the numbers of suppliers that Qmont works with. To do that, more precise information on instances of multiple orders has to be taken to determine where embezzlement might take place.

Cooperation with such suppliers shall be prohibited. While decrease of suppliers can lead to increased costs of deliveries, it is expected to be balanced by absence of multiple orders of the same item.
