What does it mean to say that schizoprehenia is multifactorial in inheritance?
Multifactorial inheritance refers to the disorders that are caused by multiple genes and environmental factors. Schizophrenia is said to have multifactorial inheritance because it's causes are seen in genetic as well as environmental factors. It is believed that the genes for schizophrenia are present in the affected family line and that environmental factors may trigger it. Thus, schizophrenia is a result of various genetic vulnerabilities along with other environmental risk factors.
