What does it mean to be a “liberal” or “conservative” criminologist? How does ideology impact the study of crime?
"Liberal" criminologist those who means to support the positive school of criminology that emphasis on the socio-economic causes as root cause for the crime and seeks to be liberal with the criminals
"Conservative" criminologist support the classical school of crime and seeks tough deterrence for crime. They seek severe punishment models for the criminals.
Both these ideologies hinders the study of crime from being unbiased or "value free" scientific study. Thus, they impact the study of crime.
