Dementia is a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental
processes caused by brain diseases or injury and marked by memory
disorders, personality changes and impaired reasoning.
- Alzheimers disease : most known and common type dementia.
Alzheimers is a consequence of an abnormal shrinkage of the brain.
First sign of this disease include difficulty to remember. Example,
the day , the place or recent events.
- Dementia with Lewy Bodies : similar to alzheimers, this
type of dementia features like Parkinsonism such as tremors and
stuffiness. It comes with sleeping disorders and visual
hallucinations.
- Vascular Dementia : every stroke and vascular accident causes
brain cell damage and tissue loss. Thus alzheimers like symptoms
can appear.
- Frontotemporal dementia : in this type neurodegeneration
affects more the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain and it
causes important changes in behavior and personality. Symptoms
include language trouble , difficulty to move and mem
Dementia is caused by damage to brain cells , which interferes
with ability of the brain cells to communicate with each other and
that will affect thinking, behavior and feelings.
