Ethics is a general term for exploring human values and understanding what constitutes a good and moral life.
Dementia arises as a result of a brain disorder, and people are
harmed at some point by having
dementia.
Management of the patient with dementia as a consequence of several factors: -
- society's uncetain attitude toward issue the resources necessary to provide appropriate care for demented elderly patients.
- physicians' unfulfilled avoidance of demented patients resulting from their anxiety over loss of cognitive functions and their generally nihilistic attitude about prognosis and treatment
The ethical care of a person with dementia is the nursing personnel’s lack of respect for individuals who have cognitive deficits.
Ethical dilemmas may arise in dull situations, but they are problematic and stressful, and those providing care often feel isolated and unsupported in responding to them.
A key principle is to understand their illness, regardless of the extent of the changes in their mental abilities .
# Basic ethical principles are commonly accepted. These are :-
(1) autonomy and well-being,
(2) beneficence,
(3) justice.
Time ethics is a construction, understanding time used in caring for persons suffering from dementia, which involves a mature, responsible and flexible nursing approach to these patients.
