Therapeutic diets are a specific meal plan which is provided for a purticular person inorder to prevent some medical conditions and restore a good nutrition to patient.
Eg; malnutrition
Types
Regular diet
It is a balanced diets used for the ambulatory patients
Diabetic diets
These are the foods which is prescribed for the patients to reduce the blood glucose level.Hense, these diets are naturally rich in nutrients but low fat and calories.
Eg:- Green leafy vegitables
Liquid diets
It is a diet which contain high amount of liquids which is susually provided to treat dehydration and after the surgery.It is a diet of choice for the patients with diegestive problems also.
Fruit juices
Calorie controlled diets
These are the foods which have less calorie content helps to reduce the weight in obese person.
Eg:- Green leafy vegitables,salmon,tuna,beans etc.
Soft diets
These are almost almost same as regular diets which require little chewing and easy to digest.
Eg:- Kanji
Low choletrol diets
Low cholestrol diets are the food which is having less cholestrol content helps to reduce the fat and cholestrol in the circulatory system.
Eg:-Nuts,Vegitables
Sodium restricted diets
Sodium restricted foods are containg less sodium level which is prescribed to tret the conditions such as hypertension.
Low residue diets
These are the food which is containing high amount of fiber which is helping to reduce the bowel movements.
Eg:- whole grains
High protein diets
The foods which contain high amount of protein helps to fight against hypertension,diabetes etc.
Eg:- Lean meat
Bland diets
Bland diets are the diets which are soft,not very spicy and low in fiber which relieves GI distress,heartburn,vomiting etc.
Low protein diet
Low protein diets are the therapeutic foods which is containing protein in less amount.It is used to trest the conditions such as impaired liver funtions and the diseases of kidney.
Eg:- grains,green leafy vegitables, banana etc.
