What does hx mean in organic chemistry
HX is commonly used in organic chemistry to denominate a Hydro-Halogen
that is
H-F; H-Cl, H-Br or even HI
it is used to denote that any halogen will be suitable for such reaction
for example
"general reaciton of alkenes + halides"
R-C=C-R + HX = R-CH-CX-R
note that X culd be either F, Br, Cl , etc...
