what does the true value of pipet mean in chemistry?
Pipet is used to deliver the known volumes of liquid into other beaker or jar. Known values are nothing but the quantity prescribed at the neck of the pippet. But as a fact that all instruments are not ideal, the quality of the pipet may differ from the prescribed value.
for example if the pipet volume is prescribed as 6 ml and you caliberate the pipet by using mass and density relation. that is first you weight the water or other known liquid with density values and then divide the mass with density and then you get the actual volume of the water in the pipet.
the values are so close to the prescribed value. may be in the order of 1% error.
eg:
prescribed value of pipet at neck=6 mL
True value of Pipet =5.98 mL
