A plane of section is an anatomical view of the body and it can be used to describe any body part or an entire body. The three planes of the body are Lateral Plane or sagittal plane, transverse (horizontal) plane, and frontal (coronal) plane.
The sagittal plane is a vertical plane through the body that separates the body into leg and right parts.
The transverse (horizontal) plane is a horizontal plane that is parallel to the ground and splits the body into superior and inferior parts.
The frontal (coronal) plane is a vertical plane through the body that separates the body Into anterior and posterior parts.
