Pain is a part of body's defense mechanism to protect itself. It is unacceptable feeling caused due to tissue damage.

The factors that influence client's experience of pain is

1) Age

2) Gender

3) Race

4) Ethnicity

5) emotional strength

6) Socioeconomic class

Age is an important factor in tolerating pain. For example- small kids find it difficult to tolerate pain as compared to adults. The older females have more pain bearing capability than Young females.

Gender wise , the capacity to tolerate pain between males and females are different. The boys won't cry quickly to pain as compared to girls. The lady who has delivered many children won't be finding it difficult to bear pain during menstrual pain.

Emotionally strong people will be able to tolerate pain as compared to others. People with depression and anxiety disorders exhibit more pain as compared to others.

Those with poor economic background are able to tolerate more pain as compared to rich economic class.

Hence, the ability to bear pain depends on various factors.
