is evidence-based care still relevant today? why or why not? explain and provide a reason to support the reason.
Evidence based care is a combination of research evidence, clinical expertise and the patient's preferences. It is a good problem solving approach in the field of clinical practice because it encourages nurses for individualized patient care. For EBM practice there are following steps that should be followed: ask a question to the patient about it's condition, find an evidence or information from the patient's answer, appraise the evidence or information, then integrate the appraised evidence and own clinical practice, finally evaluate the situation. Then according to the situation treat the patient .it is important because it aims to provide best care to the patient that is available there with best outcomes. Thus it is important.
But it requires lot of new skills , that requires time and effort . because skills are important in aprasing the evidence and also in intergartion.if practitioners don't have skills there may be confirmation bias.
Example of evidence based care: oxygen use in the chronic obstruction lung disease patient. In COPD patient giving oxygen is the correct treatment that is based on evidence because it can enhance patient's quality of life.
