Place the following patients in order for which you would see first as they come in through the emergency department. Explain why you would see them in this order. A. A patient with myasthenia gravis experiencing eye droop B. A 65 year old man with a blood pressure of 140/80 C. A 30 year old type II diabetic with a BS of 250
Ans:
If we see
A. A patient with myasthenia gravis experiencing eyedrop,
B. A 65 yrs old man with bp 140/80 mmofhg
C. A 30 year old patient with type 2 daibetes with bs 250
Then we give priority sequence as follows-
Option A then option C and last option B
Explanation-
According to triage system we can categories patient as severity level-
*Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular discord. A weakness and rapid fatigue of muscles under voluntary control.
- a condition is caused by a breakdown in communication between nerves and muscles.
- eyedrops present in myasthenia gravis patient shows serious complication which is myasthenia crisis and it's life-threatening condition, so we give 1st preference to this patient because he need immediate lifesaving interventions.
* Second priority gose to patient with blood sugar 250mg/dl .
- this patient having risk for hyperglycemia if it is not treat . We can give second category to this patient because he need significant interventions that can be delayed.
*Third and last priority goes to 63year old patient with blood pressure 140/80mmofhg which is normal and requires only observation and monitoring.
- so we can give 3rd category to this patient because he need little treatment and observation and monitoring.
