What is a MAPK cascade and what is the sequence of MAPK activation?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:- The MAPK cascade is another name given to MAPK/ERK pathway. It is a signalling pathway in which a chain of different proteins in the cell communicates a signal from a receptor on the surface of the cell to the DNA in the nucleus of the cell. This signalling pathway starts when a ligand binds to the cell surface receptor and ends when a protein in the nucleus is expressed that brings about a change in the cell.

MAPK are catalytically inactivated in their base form and for activation multiple phosphorylations are required. These phosphorylation events are carried out by specialized enzymes of STE protein kinase group. Following is the signalling cascade of MAPK in picture form for better understanding.

List the sequence of activities that a B cell undergoes after activation to a protein antigen. Begin with the process o f activation of a B cell (specifically identify each step in activation), then continue until after the centrocyte has interacted with the follicular dendritic cell and follicular helper T cell and has made plasma and memory cells. These memory and effector B cells make IgA antibody.
