1) How would you rank cities?
Various organizations rank cities and produce lists of the 10 or the 100 best based on various measures. Create a list of criteria that you would use to rank cities. Include at least 8 variables, and give reasons for your choices. Say whether each variable is quantitative or categorical.
Criteria that we would use to rank cities:
(1) Total population of the city - Quantitative
Reason: Popuation of the city is numerical data. So, this is quantitative data. The more population of the city the better will be its rank
(2) Quality and Availability of Health Care: Categorical.
Reason: Quality and Availability of Health Care is given in various categories such as: High Quality and Abundantly avilable, Average Quality and Moderately available and Poor quality and Not available. The more rating of quality and availability of Health care better will be its rank.
(3) Area of the city - Quantitative
The more the area of the city the better will be the rank of the city.
(4) Unemployment Rate of the city - Quantitative
The more Unemployment the less wiil be its rank.
(5) Average Salary - Quantitative
The more the average salary, the better will be its rank.
(6) Cleanliness - Categorical
The Cleanliness is given in various categories: High cleanliness, Average cleanliness, Poor cleanliness.
The more the rating of cleanliness the better will be its rank.
(7) Crime Rates - Quantitative
The more the crime rate, the less will its rank be.
(8) Number of recreational facilities available - Quantitative
The more the recreational facilities the better will be the rank.
