As per 2019 statitics, 380,000 people in Botswana living with AIDS. But the new infection rate significantly decreased from18,000 in 2005 to 8,500 in 2018 with the prevention and treatment measures.

Anteretroviral treatment(ART):The key characteristic of this this programme is, it is free and universal, making ART available to all eligible citizens.

HIV testing and counselling: Botswana government introduced routine HIV testing as a part of routine helth check up in public and private health clinincs.

HIV prevention programmes:Botswana's current HIV treatment statergy include,a commitment to invest more in behavioral interventions that increase knowledge about HIV among young people and key population.This include sex education, use of condoms,, prevention to mother child transmission, pre exposure prophylaxis , etc
