It is important to maintain the blood glucose level within a narrow range because Insulin and glucagon are hormones secreted by islets of Langerhans  within the pancreas. These both are secreted in response to blood sugar levels, but in o the fashion. In response to the insulin, these cells absorb glucose out of the blood, and having the net effect of lowering the high blood glucose levels into the normal range.So it is important to maintain a narrow range of glucose .
