can you paraphrase this please!! thank you!
"The students have fixed number of hours in a week to choose between studying and working, it is completely incorrect in saying that whether it is the study that causes work or work causes study. It is generally assumed that students always choose total hours as a mix of studying and working depending on their rational behavior. This would help them maximizing their utility subject to the constraint of limited fixed hours in a week. However, one can later apply the statistical method to measure the relationship between weekly hours spent studying and weekly hours spent working. But yes, one would not be claiming that one variable “causes” the other. It is the matter of interest of each student"
Each student have to make a choice regarding how much to study and how much to work. This is because the number of hours available to a student in a week are fixed.
However, one cannot state with certainty which one cause which that is it is the study that leads to work or it is the work that leads to study.
One fact that is accepted by all is that each student tries to maximize his or her utilitywith respect to division of fixed number of hours at his disposal towards study and work.
Each student creates a mix of study and work based on his or her own rational behavior.
In statistical terms, relationship between hours spent on studying and hours spent on working in a week can be measured. However, such measure cannot provide evidence to suggest whether study leads to work or work leads to study and no effort should be made to make such claim.
It is the each student's personal preference with respect to allocation of time between work and study or to say that work causes this student to study or study causes this student to work.
