How does the scientific method relate to:
1) Environmental science
2) Risk assessments
3) Measurement analysis
Scientific methods provides objectives, standardized approach to conducting experiments, and improve their results to minimize the influence of bias.
Scientific methods applied to environmental science are observation, questions, hypothesis, experiments, and conclusion which is based on two things i.e - one is results supports hypothesis and other one is results do not support hypothesis. The scientific methods helps test and arrive at conclusions for a variety of hypothesis that are created while studying environmental science.
Scientific methods related to risk assessment is either a observational science, an applied science or a form of engineering. It is shown that the analysis of all the uncertainties of risk assessment is an important part of applying scientific methods. Methods used for risk assessment includes- analysis, FTA, FMEA, HAZOP , incident now tie, event tree.
Measurement analysis in scientific methods play a vital role as the analysis we need to compare the results come from experiments based on hypothesis and prediction. Scientists will do the replicate experiments to avoid chances or error. There are many sources for error as false positive and false negatives. So here measurement analysis helps us answer our questions by assessing results to minimize both kind of positive errors.
