Hello!
Psychology according to me was always present some people like calling it common sense but maybe it is an upgraded version of it with scientific base as science means reasoning and psychology is all about reasoning and evaluating results hence it is a science but this gained a lot of scope during the time of some great freak philosophers and scholars and later it became official when wilhelm wundt founded the first laboratory dedicated exclusively in Leipzig Germany in 1879.
Furthur I want to say that psychology is a science as I said earlier and to support that we know that we have have experiments which usually starts with an aim describing what the experiment is all about conducting a test collecting data and analysing it and then reasoning it and the involvement of human subjects helps psychological experiments to get actual and honest answers and reactions and then the results can be drawn an then the scientific hypotheses is given based on the subjects data of the experiment to see if the subject accepts the hypotheses or not. Hence psychology is a true scientific study with results analysis, problems, data etc.
Thankyou, hope this helped
