Nursing is the practice in which providing autonomous and collaborative care for individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all levels. It mainly concentrate on the promotion of health, the prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people.

From the view of American Nurses Association the nursing is to guard , promote, and optimize health and skills , prevent illness and injury, alleviate suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of people , families, communities, and populations. Nursing helps the nurse to focus on the patient as an individual, and not only to help to decrease pain and suffering.

About caring it is not just about the medical aspect of nursing but also to treat a patient's physical ailments as well as his or her emotional needs.Caring and nursing have always an interconnection. The transpersonal nurse can connect with and embrace the spirit or soul of the patient, through the processes of caring and healing.

Nursing requires creative approach because not all patients have the same needs.Nurses are taking care of the whole person physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. While caring for an individual, the nurse cares his family also.Through this liberal arts, nurses learn to analyze and solving problem, think critically, and communicate.

Nursing as a science

It's through the science, nurses bring forward knowledge of anatomy & physiology, chemistry, microbiology, psychology, and sociology. In respect to the profession the nurse should have adeuate knowledge.

Nurses are essential members of the healthcare team, collaborating with professionals from a spread of disciplines to make sure the supply of quality healthcare. Professional nursing requires innate qualities like caring and compassion also as a broad educational foundation.
