As November Election Day is approaching people would be
listening more of 'voting is your civic duty'. Some people say it
is costly and tiresome, it takes time to register etc, but these
are all notions that they keep for avoiding to vote. People should
understand that this is not only a right given to us but also a
power to make a difference. Here are few reasons why one should
decide to get registered and vote.
- Elections have consequences. You have the power to change or
decide the quality of life you would be given for the coming years.
Voting is an opportunity to stand for what you think and to stand
up for the issues that you care about.
- Not voting is like giving up your voice. The results of
elections are based upon people's choices through voting. You have
the power to make a difference, if you don't vote, then it would be
like someone else is making decisions for you and you can't do
anything about it.
- The other thing to note here is that, it is your money, the
taxes you pay. By voting you can choose how your tax money would be
used by government.
- If you want to make any difference in the society, the first
step towards that would be voting.
- The decision that you make, your children, friends, family and
all loved ones, their life and peaceful years for the next few
years is in the hands of voters.
So make sure that your voice is heard. The first step towards
that is to vote.
