Ethical approval is an important part of research. It aims to protect participants and researchers.As researches have a certain level of risk for the people or environment.
It is required in order for research to result in benefit and minimise risk of harm, it must be conducted ethically.
The aim of ethical review is to protect participants. They are a valuable part of the research process and not merely a means of accessing data.
Most researchers mistake scientific clearance or approval, for ethics approval. For a study to be ethical sound, it must be scientifically sound.
The researcher has the responsibility of systematically consulting the competent ethics committee for advice and consequent approvals
