what is the relationship between chlorophyll distribution and PSII activity for the chloroplast ?
Photosystem II is the protein complex located in thylakoid play key role in the light-dependent reactions of oxygenic photosynthesis. It have a reaction center(P680) which contain active chlorophyll pigment which absorb the light especially excited at 680nm and the enrgiged electrons may trasferred through varity of enzymes and cofacters and finally to reduce NADP to NADPH2. Unlike other photosystems PSII have monomer of chlorophyll which involved in photo induced charge separation in PSII, as the positive charge is not shared across two molecules, the ionised pigment shoud be highly oxidizing so that it can take part in the splitting of water to regain its lost electrons. This chlorophyll a pigments in light dependent reactions involving PSII located in thylakoid membrane and known to be associated with other proteins in light harvesting complex. They distribution inside Light harvesting complex of reaction center, so that the accessory proteins around it absorb the light and transfer resonence light energy to it so that it exite and proceeds the electron transfer to the plastoquenone.
