  • Follow 6 rights of medication administrarion : right person, right drug , right dose , right route , right time and right documentation
  • Cross checking the orders : All medication orders should be double checked by another nurse to confirm whether they are transcribed correctly on the physician's order and the medication administration record.Compatible systems for medical record exchage are useful.
  • Competency of staff : Staff should be trained to get basic knowledge regarding the drugs, indications , precautions , side effects , storage requirements etc. Don't administer medications in a hurry or rush.
  • Proper documentation : Uniform standards of writing orders should be followed and proper and legible documentation of every information of the medication name, dosage , route etc is mandatory
