You have consumed an oven roasted turkey leg containing carbohydrate (glycogen), protein (actin and myosin), and fat (triglycerides). Begin this essay by diagramming and explaining the anatomy of the digestive system (GI track and accessory organs). From the mouth to the point of absorption, detail the pathway of each nutrient monomer as it is (1) digested and ultimately (2) absorbed. BE AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE.

Solutions

Expert Solution

QUES--

DIGESTION AND ABSORPTION OF CARBOHYDRATES,FATSAND PROTEINS--

Carbohydrates , fats and proteins are are digested and absorbed in SMALL INTESTINE

DIGESTION AND ABSORPTION OF CARBOHYDRATES --

1) DIGESTION --

A) MOUTH -- salivary amylase (ptyalin) acids digestion of starch to 1:4 linkages producing - limiting dextrins and maltose.

B) STOMACH - the HCL of the gastric juice may hydrolase some sucrose.

C) DUODENUM - amylase of pancreatic juice rapidly converts all starch and dextrins completely into maltoe. it acts as in an alkaline medium and its digestive activity is increased by presence of bile salts.

D) SMALL INTSTINE - succus entericus contains disscharids i.e enzymes for splitting dissacharides int monosaccharides.for example--

You study a serine/threonine-protein kinase, which is likely involved in the regulation of actin dynamics. You have good knowledge about the kinase (such as its kinase domain information and which residues are catalytic sites etc). You found a RhoGEF by yeast two-hybrid screening using the kinase as bait. Further, through co-immunoprecipitation assay, you confirmed that the kinase specifically interacts with the RhoGEF. Since RhoGEF is well known to regulate actin oligomerization, you expect that the protein might provide an important...

Do you think differently about the process of how carbohydrate, lipids and protein are metabolized and energy is released? Or perhaps about how the pathways in metabolism work? Does it make sense now why lipids have 9 kcalories per gram and carbohydrate and protein have 4 kcalories per gram?

5. You have a dialysis bag containing 15-mL protein solution in 0.20 M NaCl. a. Would it be more efficient to dialyse this solution against i)one 2 L volume of buffer until equilibrium is reached, or to ii)dialyze the solution against one L buffer until equilibrium is reached, the remove the bag and dialyze against another one L of buffer til equilibrium is reached. Assume there is no volume change in the dialysis bag with dialysis. (1 pt) {type answer...
