As a health care manager, how would learning about a fraud or abuse violation in your organization make you feel? How would you respond professionally to these violations?
Frauds and abuse within healthcare organisation results in
financial losses and deters the growth of company.
These frauds and abuse can occur at any level within the
organisation and strategies to deal with such cases is necessary
for growth of the organisation.
Healthcare managers holds the responsibility to deter, prevent,
detect and respond to such frauds and malicious abuses. If I being
a healthcare manager get to know about a fraud or abuse in my
healthcare organisation I would definitely feel disappointed. I
believe that I am an integral part of my organisation and any harm
done to the organisation impacts me. Also I hold the responsibility
to protect the organisation and would definitely feel little let
down.
Once the fraud has taken place and it comes to my knowledge it is
my responsibility to report it immediately to higher authorities
for further action. I would try to find the root cause of such
violations. I would have a thorough investigation and evaluation of
the working of the company and try to find any faults in the
system. I would design strategies and procedural control techniques
to prevent such incidents in future. Increasing basic security
controls and alertness will also help prevent frauds. A secure data
collection system and information storage will help in preventing
such frauds in future. Increased surveillance, alertness, secure
information and data storage, validation and verification of
enployees and associates are some of the techniques to prevent
frauds and abuse.
