You are charge nurse for the shift. You have assigned patients to your best friend who is also a nurse. You and your best friend are pulling medications from the Pyxis (Medication Cart). You notice your best friend overriding narcotics so the medications can be pulled. She places these narcotics in her pocket. The medications were taken out under a patient's name who was discharged earlier. She asks you not to say anything. You realize your best friend is stealing narcotics from the Pyxis.

As this person will be a drug addict and that is the reason why he is stealing and using it . He might be using it to himself or might be selling to others . These kind of drugs can cause addiction and also cause harm to the individual of taken in an additive dose . So the best thing to do is report it to the higher authority

Educate the person about the side effects of these drugs

Ask the person not to use it again

Enlighten him that you are going to report this and convince him that it is for his better future
