ANSWER: In January, 2020 who has declared coronavirus as a
worldwide problem. This leads to serious stress, anxiety, and
pressure not only on the general population but also on health care
providers. WHO gave some guidelines, support, and training to
minimize the stress related to coronavirus:
- avoiding watching and listening news about
COVID19: This was the first and most important help to
reduce stress among the general population as well as health care
providers. This is good to know about surroundings but only that
soothes you not tense you.
- refer correct term and show empathy: WHO also
said that never use COVID cases, COVID family or COVID victims, use
peron having COVID, person recovering from COVID. And also show
some empathy and sympathy to these people. Never see them as
monster. It could lead to stigma.
- get help from others: WHO has also opened some
support system, helpline number if anybody is stressed about the
corona and wants to know about it more, this is not only for the
general population as well for health care providers.
- amplify the positive outcomes: . For example,
stories of people who have recovered or who have supported a loved
one and are willing to share their experience. all this could help
in reducing stress.
- use effective coping strategies: this is
natural for health care workers to feel stressed while caring in
hospitals for longer hours. But take your time, talk to your loved
ones, eat you favorite meal, do rest, share feelings all these
things can be a great help to reduces stress.
- rotate the working system: This also had some
extent of help, rotating the shifts from more stressing areas to
the less stressful area. This buddy system helps in reducing
stress.
- psychological first aid: this was a help from
WHO for all health care providers to control emotions, stress, and
anxiety among all. It includes everyone, school, teachers, the
general population, and students also.
- stress management training: it was apart of
training that is provided to health care workers. This includes all
the basic steps or minor interventions that can help in the
prevention of stress.
- digital platform: video conferencing
synchronous and asynchronous type can be help for health care
providers to reduce stress, share their feelings and experience
that how they coped up with these feelings during the pandemic.
Digital education prooved some help in these situations.
- telepsychiatry: it was not only for general
population to get consultation via phone, internet but also
available for health workers.
SOME EXTENT OF THESE TRAINING AND SUPPORT HELPED HEALTH CARE
PROVIDERS SOME NOT THAT ARE:
- . telepsychiatry
- digital platform
- rotating working system.
more frankly if we say, every support and guidelines had some
sort of fault that can not fully cure the stress among health
workers because:
- everyone do not have reach or access to internet
- increasing cases and death rate everyday.
- less positive outcomes more negative one.
- less number of helath workers.
- rotation require quarantine period of helth workers.
- no contact to family.
- poor follow up services
- difficult to maintain effective communication with digital
platform.
- long working hours.
- busy and poor helpline services.
