RB gene is a tumor suppressor gene. The mutation in the RB gene causes retinoblastoma. The two copies of the mutated gene are required to exhibit the retinoblastoma phenotype. The individuals with genotype RB/Rb are carriers. They do not exhibit the phenotype. Retinal cells with genotype RB/rb will not exhibit the diseases. But have a high risk of causing cancer. The individuals with the genotype RB/rb transfers the mutated allele to their children.
