What do you see as some of the most significant impacts of managed care for patients?
Managed care for patients have had a negative effect on physician-patient relationships, the ability to obtain ethical obligations, and the quality of patient care. I feel like these are negative effects because of the health care systems "reform" efforts. Managed care actually makes it harder for the patients to access specialized services and makes them less satisfied with the care they receive. The population we live in today is somewhat vulnerable when it comes to their health. So many changes have come about and have caused patients to lose their managed care plans from the guidelines being switched under the health reform. Some of the patients feel like its more about the money than it is about the health quality in patient care. the health reform also made the premiums for health care to be increased. When this happened it made it a lot harder for patients living on SSI or one check per month to not be able to afford the insurance. If the patients can't afford the medical insurance then this causes a health decline in the patients

What else can I add to this

Expert Solution

Managed care is a part of the healthcare delivery system. It mainly focus on the cost control management. But in many recent years, it has negatively impacted the patients as well as the physicians. The managed care cost requires huge premium. It is not possible for every person to pay high amount of premium. The increased premium rates reduces the active participation in the managed health care. People are not able to pay taxes, and it also reinforce them to live life in a very little. Some people may find it worthy, but majority of the population are not happy with the premium rates. Although government has introduced ACA(affordable Care Act) but still the increased premium rates and low socioeconomic status makes people unable to avail any profit. Hence it results in to lack of healthcare facilities. And most of the programs doesn't cover the complete health package, some or the other way one has to pay for their treatment. Hence this causes decline in the health of people.
