Disease diabetes mellitus

An endocrinologist deals with the malfunctioning of endocrine glands and disturbances in the hormones.
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is commonly treated by the endocrinologist. Diabetes mellitus is divided into type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes results from insufficiency of pancreas to secrete insulin. In type 2 diabetes body cells develop resustance to the insulin. Both types result in impaired glucose uptake by the cells resulting in hyperglycaemia.
History of patient with diabetes mellitus includes :

1. Demographic data : name, age, gender, contact information of the patient

2. Family history : any diabetic patient in the family related to patient.
3. Medical history : use of any kinds pf drugs, previous surgeries.
Physical examination consists of :   
Weight of patient, skin colour and texture, measurement of vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, heart rate, respiratory rate.
The symptoms in patient with diabetes includes increased urinary frequency, increased thirst, weight loss, restlessness, palpitation, loss or increased appetite. Blood test for glucose reveals increased glood sugar levels.
