Initial Discussion Post:
Compose a response to the following questions:
As an RN in an emergency room what signs and symptoms
would you associate with someone having a stroke? Would these
symptoms be different in different cultures and genders?
Identify one culture or gender and discuss their risk factors and
presentation of a stroke. During the first 60 minutes of
identifying a stroke, what test and treatments should be completed
in order to promote the highest level of recovery? What would you
include in a teaching plan for this patient?
Generally we can say that stroke is a phenomenon which take place in our body when supply of blood is cut off from particular area of the brain. Depends on the intensity of stroke or how much tissue is deprived of blood symptom may vary.
For instance symptoms may include weakness when effect of stroke is less but when intensity of stoke is high then in such case it may lead to paralysis and immidiate treatment and else it effect may be permanent for body. Its symptoms may include weakning of muscles and paralysis which is in the one side of the body. Affected person may also suffer from visual problem like blurred vission, visual loss or double vission. He may also suffer weakness or numbness in body and headache and mental confusion.
Symptom of stroke in woman is some what different as it include fainting, halluciantion, vomiting, pain and hiccups etc
As soon as someone notice these symptoms in some person immidiate action should be taken and medical assistance is given. It is diagonised by CT scan or MRI scan. Blood sugar level and cholestrol level is also checked at once.Antiplatelet medication is given which reduces the stckiness of platelets and thus prevent the blood clot inside the ateries
