Expert Solution

With the world’s nations moving towards market economies many believe that nationalization of foreign industries does not its place. But to be unbiased, it depends on the type of economy it. Developed countries like US and developing countries like India & China should have no room for nationalization of foreign Industries. It is about laisse fraise, where the market should determine the price by unrestricted competition of any sort off players. Today the world is for the survival of the fittest! And for that the economy should have the open policy where every player is unrestricted. This not only improve the relations with other countries but also help is removing stagnation in the domestic market. If there is no competition and pressure for innovation then the domestic market would also not flourish hence it is apt for the developed and developing countries.

But on the other hand, the developing countries cannot blindly follow the above. They are there in the nascent stage and the economy itself it trying to stabilize on its own. Under such scenario it is important to maintain nationalization of the industries so that the domestic market survive. Foreign players are so huge that they can play on their economies of scale and wipe off the full domestic market hence in that case there should be restrictions.

During the 1980s, most of the world's supply of lysine was produced by a Japanese company named Ajinomoto. Lysine is an essential amino acid that is an important livestock feed component. At this time, the United States imported most of the world's supply of lysine—more than 30,000 tons—to use in livestock feed at a price of $1.65 per pound. The worldwide market for lysine, however, fundamentally changed in 1991 when U.S.-based Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) began producing lysine—a move that...

Suppose that a market could be either a monopoly or a competitive market.  Suppose that in either case the demand curve can be written as Qd= 100-2P.  Suppose further that the marginal cost of production is the same in either case.  This means that the supply curve in the competitive market is the same as the marginal cost curve for the monopoly.  So the supply curve is Qs= -20+P and, rearranging the terms, the marginal cost of the monopolist is MC= 20+Q.What is the...

Caffeine is the world's most widely used stimulant, with approximately 80% consumed in the form of coffee. Participants in a study investigating the relationship between coffee consumption and exercise were asked to report the number of hours they spent per week on moderate (e.g., brisk walking) and vigorous (e.g., strenuous sports and jogging) exercise. Based on these data the researchers estimated the total hours of metabolic equivalent tasks (MET) per week, a value always greater than 0. The table below...
