do you think the soda tax is effective in philadelphia? why or why not? is there a better alternative? Has any other alternatives been successful in other cities or states
The soda tax took effect at the beginning in 2017, as it presented a 1.5 cent per once on sugary or artificial sweeteners.
Philadelphia became the first major American State with the tax been implemented.
Where according to a journal of American medical Association the soda tax resulted in a substantial reduction in sales. The sales fell by 38%.
The tax was very effective in refucing the over consumption of this soda beverage.
Which is know to cause adverse effect on the Heath of its consumers.
Know to cause carcinogenic effect due to overconsumption this act has only benefited for the better.
But on the other hand this led to infringement of consumer rights as well as may cause adverse damage to the income of the lower class of society..
Leaving large amount of tax may prove to be arguable due to financial strain on the working class. Other option that can be considered effective includes reducing sugar content in the drinks which may have an effective value.
