Gastro intestinal assessment.

Gastrointestinal assessment include inspection, auscultation,light palpation of the abdomen to identify visible abnormalities.

Rebound tenderness is included in the subjective assessment of gastrointestinal assessment.

Pain is the symptom what the patient and tenderness is the sign that the clinician elicits.

Abdominal pain is caused by wide variety of conditions.

In gastrointestinal assessment of tenderness, we ask the history of pain whether it is chronic or acute, whether it is occasioal, whether it is progreaaive or regressive.

The location of pain is useful starting point and will guide further evaluation.

Example: Right lower quadrant pain is strongly associated with appendicitis.

Diarrhea is not included in subjective assessment. Diarrhea can be assed by

1) Blood test : A complete blood count test can indicate what is causing diarrhea.

2) Stool test : stool test is useful too see if a parasite or bacteria is causing diarrhea.

3) Flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy.

Generalized red abdominal rash:

The possible causes of the rash include

A) Bacteria infection.

B) viral infection.

C) Drug reactions.

D) Allergies.

E) our own body's systemic inflammation.

Assessment of the rash include the medical practitioner asks the patient about

1) Any Mediacation the person is taking.

2) The presence of other symptoms.

3) Recent travels to areas where viral infection are common.

4) Contact with any people having dermatological issues.

Hematuria:

Hematuria is the presence of blood in the urine.

In Hematuria kidneys and other parts of the urinary tract allow blood cells to leak into urine.

Assessment of hematuria is done by :

1) Urine test : Urine analysis to find out any urinary tract disesed.

2) Blood test: to check for kidney disease.

3) Kidney imaging studies to check for any tumor.
