Category balancing is the major entity which tries to balance the project under various categories or constraints.

Triple constraint balancing facilitates the balancing of project on 3 dimensions – cost, quality and time. The project managers try to facilitate the triple constraint balancing in project by keeping the cost, quality as well as project time within its pre-decided scope.

  • Cost : Project budget
    • One of the major objective of the project team is to keep the project cost within the pre-estimated budget. Constant monitoring of project funds is facilitated to identify deviations as soon as they occur and work to solve the same.
  • Quality : Appraisal cost
    • Appraisal cost is cost of good quality. It helps in maintaining the quality of the overall business process. The appraisal cost of the process can be kept high.
  • Time: Project schedule
    • Another critical project constraint is the time constraint. Usually companies need to follow a time schedule to meet the deadline mentioned by the client. Usually the project team develops a WBS of the project and project schedule is developed accordingly. Various steps are taken so that the project adheres to the time schedule.
