Life chances is a theory that was given by Max Weber in which a person might get the correct or enough opportunities to make their life better than what it actually is. According to this concept, there are many factors that influence the probability of an individual’s life turning into a certain manner. This is directly correlated to the socioeconomic status of a person.
Social stratification plays a major role in hoe the life of a person would turn out to be. It depends on the income of the family, the class that they are living in and the reputation that a person has in the society. These factors will determine which resources would be available to an individual in the form of education, shelter or opportunities to move forward. Aid a person. Does not get proper education they would not be able to carry out their life similar to other educated people. Also, a malnutritioned child or a constantly sick child will not be able to be steady in his life such that he could concentrate on any work that he is doing. This aspect depends on the neighbourhood where a person is living or the hygienic conditions in which they are surviving. If a person is not properly educated and cannot work properly, it would become difficult for them to carry forward their family and provide sufficiently for their family. Hence, social economic status does define the life chances.
