Choose an engineering project that involves both hydrology and hydraulics. In one paragraph, analyze ways in which the hydrology influences the hydraulics, and ways hydraulics influences the hydrology.

Solutions

Expert Solution

-> Design of flood drainage system for a city is a project which involves both hydrology and hydraulic studies.

-> We have the data related to flood quantity and it's frequency from hydraulic studies and channel sizes and their alignment depends on hydraulic studies.

-> Hydrology and hydraulic engineering both are inter related. In hydraulic engineering, we use principles of fluid mechanics to problems relating with collection, storage, transport of water. Before beginning of hydraulic project we need hydrology data, for example to determine size of channel to control flood we need information about quantity of water this is estimated using hydrology principles such as rational method.

-> Hydrology is the science dealing with distribution of water on earth. If we construct channels to transport water from rainfall area to other drought area then ground water in rainfall area decreases because of less infiltration in that area similarly the ground water in drought area increases because of channel flow in that region, in that way hydraulics influences the hydrology.

The engineering calculation on the telecommunication project is needed to analyze the feasibility of the project and the total value of investments. As the Project Manager, you have to do the financial analysis of your telecommunication project to get the conclusion of whether this feasible to run the project or not. You have to prove your analysis by giving the project calculation in terms of Net Present Value (NPV), Present Worth Analysis, and Break-Even Point (BEP) based on the initial...

One of the ways to reduce economic and transaction exposure is to restructure. This restructuring involves shifting sources of revenues and costs to other locations in order to match cash inflows and outflows in foreign currencies. Explain the basics of this approach and did the MNC that you chose to write your report on, undertake any such restructuring? Would this restructuring increase translational risk? Does it make sense for an MNC to reduce one risk at the cost of exposing...
