Compare and Contrast the Gilded Age and the current period of Trumpism

Solutions

Expert Solution

The period after the civil war, between the later part of 1860s to the 1896 is called as Gilded Age. It is the period known for the rapid economic growth, and development, whereas the Trumpism is about making America Great again, but by renegotiating with other nations, blaming past rulers for the current issues of slow economic growth and withdrawing USA as a world leader at many fronts. Gilded age had such a fast economic growth that it attracted a huge number of migrants from Europe, but today, Trumpism has a stringent policy towards the immigration. Specifically, Europeans are not so much interested in migration to the USA. Further, Gilded Age also had corruption, its underneath though glittering from outside, but Trumpism has  less scope of corruption, but less scope for poor as well and it is making the policies that are less friendly to the lower middle class. So, both time periods exhibit different characteristics.
